OG (ORIGINAL GRAVITY)
The specific gravity of the wort when cooled, but before the yeast is added.

PATENT BLACK MALT
Malt kilned until it is carbonised. This is used for colouring and flavouring only. Mainly used for dark beers such as stout and porter.

PET
PET stands for Polyethylene terephthalate. This is a plastic used for making bottles to hold carbonated drinks, such as beer, lemonade, fizzy drinks etc. They can safely be used for bottling home made beers when sterilised.

PRESSURE BARREL
A plastic keg used by home beer makers to dispense draught beer.

PRIMING
The addition of a small amount of sugar that is added to the bottles or barrel before sealing in order to condition it.
